Girl Scout Badge Workshops Fall 2016
The Anderson Center for the Arts partners with the Girl Scout Council of Central Indiana to host a variety of Girl Scout Badge Workshops. Registration of any of our Girl Scout Badge Workshops takes place through the Girl Scout Council of Central Indiana – www.girlscoutsindiana.org. Individual girls or entire troops may register. Saturday, January 21, 2017 | 9:30 am – 1:00 pm
$18 per girl
Girl Scout Cadettes will explore the art of bookbinding in this creative workshop! Learn the different parts of a book, try out artist techniques, and create your very own unique book! Explore a variety of traditional bookbinding tools and processes. Cadettes will try simple techniques that turn ordinary paper into extraordinary artwork just perfect for any handmade book. Girl Scouts will learn how books are made and try gluing, stitching, and folding their own scrapbook, planner, or personal journal. Badges will be presented at the end of the workshop.

Girl Scout Juniors will learn all about the art of drawing in this very fun and informative workshop! Learn a variety of drawing techniques and try different drawing media including graphite, charcoal, and pastels. Girl Scouts will learn the basics of drawing including composition, lighting, and tonal values through a series of fun projects! Badges will be presented at the end of the program.
Saturday, March 11, 2017 | 9:30 am – 12:30 pm
$14 per girl
Lights, camera, action! Take an in-depth look into different types of cameras, learn how to set up a photo shoot and compose portraits, while understanding how lighting and point of view affect a photograph. Find out how to transfer pictures to a computer and make adjustments to take home a finished print. Create your own photo project and share your photos with others. Girl Scouts will have a chance to explore our annual photography exhibition IN-Focus and visit a local photography studio.
**Please prepare to bring at least one digital camera or device per four girls.

Before you can begin to create you must first learn the basics! In this workshop, Girl Scouts will learn basic hand sewing stitches, learn how to cross stitch, and create their own felt bracelet or heart ring to take home or share with a friend.

Explore some of the basic pottery building techniques by building a fun coil and pinch pot. Girl Scouts will also experiment with throwing on a wheel as well as creating their own owl ornament to take home!

Pow! Zap! Step into the fun and adventurous world of comic books! Learn about the history of comics, how to write, create, and color your own comic strip. Learn and explore all of this on Free Comic Book Day, a national event!

In this workshop we will explore different techniques of collage making. Girl Scouts will learn how to transfer images, create a silhouette collage, and experiment with Cubomania. We will also look at how collage is used in the art world by artists like Picasso, Matisse, and Gherasim Luca.
